Immunity In the early 1700’s Lady Montagu learned of a Turkish custom of Chinese origin known as variolation and introduced this practice into Western European society. Variolation involves the introduction of a small amount of the small pox virus into a slit made in the skin. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
