i 16. The Will 2 3 CAST: #1, #2 4 SCENE OPENS: We are in #l's office. #1 is a lawyer. He/she is 5 preparing for a meeting. There is a knock at the door. 6 7 #1: Come on in. (#2 enters.) I'm glad you could make it Sit down. 8 #2: I got your message. It sounded kind of urgent 9 #1: It is. 10 #2: What's up? 11 #1: It has to do with the reading of your father's will tomorrow. 12 #2: And? 13 #1: Well, I thought we ought to talk about his will before then. 14 #2: What's to talk about? I know what's in it 15 #1: When's the last time you two ... discussed it? 16 #2: I don't know. Must have been four ... or ... five ... (A horrible 17 thought starts to dawn on ff2) years ... no, wait. Do not tell me 18 that he changed his will. 19 #1: See, this is why I wanted to meet now. I didn't want there to be 20 a scene tomorrow. 21 #2: Why would there be a scene? The only reason I can think of is 22 that he changed his will and I got screwed. And if that's the 23 case... fix it. 24 #1: Look, I want you to stay calm. I'm talking to you in the 25 capacity as your lawyer ... 26 #2: Don't! Just show me the paper. (HI takes out a document and 27 gives it to #2. #2 looks it over and is shocked.) 28 #1: See, it's not really that bad. 29 #2: Not that bad? Not that bad?! I got fifty thousand dollars. 30 #1: That's a lot of money. 31 #2: When my father died he was worth forty million. My mother's 32 dead, I have no brothers or sisters, my father has no other 33 blood relatives ... so what happened to the other thirty-nine 34 million, nine hundred and fifty thousand dollars?
