A Room With a View Review I know A Room with a View is a highly regarded and award winning film, that being said it did not appeal to me at all. I have never really enjoyed period pieces, even once with lots of violence like Gangs of New York. To me those types of films present a glossed-over or shallow picture of what life may have been like in that historical period. I am also not generally a fan of films based on literature. While there are many movies from this category that I am fond of I find that nearly always the original story is so compromised that if I have read the piece of fiction previously I am disappointed by what the filmmakers were forced to leave out of the adaptation or the filmmakers try so hard to fit all of the essential plot points into the film that it leads to deficiencies in other area. Although I have not read the original I feel that A Room with a View falls into the latter category. For me, the motivations of the characters are never really fleshed out. I'm sure in the
