HUM 2051 1 Joel Lewis HUM 2051 October 12, 2017 Dante’s Inferno The narrative who wrote the epic journey through Hell was Dante’s Inferno. The poem by Dante was a way to find the peace and find a way to be whole spiritually. But to find that, they had to go through a journey to Hell. Dante writes about being lost in his sins in the beginning of the poem. He also spoke about a Roman poet named Virgil, who came to him to be his spiritual guide along the way. When Dante saw Virgil coming close to him to explain that they will travel to hell to help him look at what will be the consequences of all his actions. Dante and Virgil travel through the nine circles of Hell and Dante while traveling, he didn’t say a word while they were there. He saw unimaginable punishments, horrible sights of suffering as well as familiar faces wanting the pain to stop. Dante and Virgil eventually found a way out of Hell through a secret road. While reading the story, there were a couple of comparison between Inferno, Confession, and Aeneid. The work of Virgil and Augustine influenced Dante to be a great poet,
