PARADIGMS 2 Paradigms A paradigm is a system of beliefs that guides the manner in which we research, make decisions and how we do things. It involves assumptions on our perception of the world and development of expectations on what might occur out of these assumptions. Everybody has paradigms that guide his or her discipline. Understanding which paradigms are influencing your decisions or actions is helpful as you seek to advance in your life or discipline. This paper describes how one can use the knowledge on paradigms to improve his life or business, and a description of how the concepts of paradigm shifting, paradigm paralysis, the impossibility question, paradigm pioneering and the paradigm effect can be employed in the same regard. Paradigms are normative in nature; they determine one's view on various aspects of nature. Knowledge of paradigms will help me to develop theories, methods, and standards that are helpful in determining the importance, reasonability, legitimacy and worthiness of a decision or activity (Gorland, 2016).
