Essay 2 Ranft The Consequence of Treating A Social Norm as A Moral Norm Something that can go wrong in the business realm when we treat a social norm as if it were a moral norm is something I’ve never really about. The first question I asked myself was identifying what exactly is the distinct difference between a social and moral norm? Social norms are more so rules and behaviors that society is expected to follow, and if you don’t follow this set of social norms, you may be shunned for your behavior. However, these norms change according to the environment or situation and may change or be modified over time as well as the differing opinions of each person and what they believe a social norm should be. Moral norms however, are more so rules that society has agreed upon for the sake of betterment of the community as a whole. Moral laws are usually more generally accepted and believed by society because they are things like “do not kill” and “do not steal.” To me, a social norm is an opinion
