Chapter 8 A priori probability – determined without collecting data (this is from reason alone and is theoretical) P(A) = Number of events classified as ( A ) Total Number of possible events A posteriori probability – determined after the fact (this means after data has been collected and is empirical) P(A) = Number of × ( A ) occured Total number of Occurences The addition rule contains the word “OR.” p(A or B) = p(A) + p(B) – p(A and B) The multiplication rule contains the word “AND.” p(A and B) = p(A)p(B|A) p(B|A) reads: probability of occurrence B given A already occurred. If mutually exclusive and exhaustive P+Q=1.00. (addition rule) Independence of two events => sampling with replacement Dependent of two events => sampling without replacement For it to be a probability it needs to be a decimal point or fraction. p(A and B) = 0 (multiplication rule) Chapter 9 For it to be binomial distribution: i. series of N trials ii. two possible outcomes on each trial iii. mutually exclusive and exhaustive iv.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
