The plot of the narrative of the Thomas Watson story is that no matter who you are, it is essential to follow the rules and do as you are assigned with no exception. The narrative frames the issue by using a relatively new hire as our main character and a higher up as the person being denied access. It is playing into the frame of rule following and abiding by the rules of the company, even if it is someone higher up. Even the person who is a higher up needs to have proper credentials in order to be allowed in certain areas. The narrative meets the standards of narrative probability by giving us a believable situation were a new person is trying to do their job and by having the higher up (Watson) respond in an appropriate matter (not screaming at her and telling her she is fired). The story tells us that Lucille Burger was terrified to tell Watson he could not get past because she recognized him. She knew that he was higher up in the
