Ethics Quiz (20%->10%) § You will be given a quiz on ethics a\er the ethics lectures are given. § The quiz will be approximately 16 ques<ons, with mul<ple-choice answers. § This quiz will comprise 10% of your overall grade. 3

Ethics Video (20%) § You will generate a 2-minute video of yourself presen<ng on an ethics topic. § The video will address an ethics issue of your choice, whether one from class or from your own research/experience. § You can present next to a screen showing your presenta<on slides, or do a poster you can point to. You and your informa<on materials need to both be shown in the video, but not necessarily at all <mes. You can submit a Google drive link, or a well-known video file type. § The video will comprise 20% of your overall grade. § If turned in late, you will get one lower lecer grade (e.g., from A- to B-). § You need to include the following: 1. Introduce yourself 2. Describe the issue you want to talk about 3. Why is it an ethical issue? Give examples. 4. Suggest mi<ga<on techniques to keep it ethical 4

Canvas Assignment –Due October 17th 5 On Oct 10 we will begin an essay assignment for Prof. Lindner based on the VW dieselgate emissions scandal. Inves)ga)ng Ethics for STEM In this research study, we will inves<gate a new method for teaching ethics for Science Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The results of this research study will be used to determine if the methodology is effec<ve. We will pose the ques<on: “Suppose you are a new engineer at Volkswagen (VW), and you are asked to engage in work that will cause the engines to violate US Environmental regula<ons. How will you respond?” Here is what we request from you: 1. You will be asked to provide a one-page narra<ve to this ques<on explaining your response and the reasons for it.
