E- Draw the structure of a molecule that could be used to serve as a suicide inhibitor of adenine phosphoribosyl transferase. Make sure that this inhibitor would be specific for this enzyme and would not inhibit other metabolic enzymes. Explain briefly why you think this molecule could be used as such inhibitor – 4pts. 2pts/molecule 2pts/explanation This adenine analogue would likely bind the active site of Adenine phosphoribosyl transferase but the N7/C8 positions have been exchanged such that it lacks the nitrogen which is the reactive group in the nucleophilic attack on PRPP. Therefore it would stay bound in the active site without reacting resulting in a suicide inhibitor.

2 Question 2 (10pts). The picture at the bottom of this page shows a base pair present in a double helix. A - Draw the position of the helical axis on this base pair in the case of: - an A-form duplex (label axis with ”A”) – 1pt -a B-form duplex (label axis with ”B”) – 1pt B - Draw the pseudo-dyad axis – 1pt C - What rotation parameter describes rotation of this base pair around the pseudo-dyad axis? – 1pt Tilt/base pair Tilt D - Identify on the picture two chemical groups that could be used by a protein to bind this base pair in a sequence-specific manner. Describe them briefly below naming the atoms using the numbering nomenclature if necessary and mention the type of interaction that would be made – 3pts.
