TASK 1: ETHICAL LEADERSHIP 2 Ethical Leadership Ethical leadership is simply a leadership practice that is guided by the respect and sufficient recognition of ethical values, practices and beliefs. Additionally ethical leadership incorporates the respect for the rights and dignity of other people. Thus, ethical leadership is related to elements such as honesty, trust, fairness, charisma, and consideration among others. Ethics, on the other hand are concerned with those values or morals that a person or an entire society considers as desirable. An ethical leader demonstrates his traits by showing aspects of virtuousness in their motives and practices. An ethical leader would also portray ethical conduct by acting in ways that are consistent with what the society considers as good. Ethical leadership behavior is usually good for business and incorporates the consideration of the impact of one’s decision on all business stakeholders and shareholders. Ethical leadership practices develop a good and friendly business environment, which in return leads to prosperity of business organizations. Ethical Leadership in J. F. Kennedy’s Presidency John F. Kennedy, a former U.S. president can be described as one controversial leader. More importantly, Kennedy possesses a notable reputation for being a big thinker and having constant aspirations regarding the citizens of the United States (Nye Jr, 2013). Kennedy had a tendency of setting goals that other people would describe as impossible to achieve. However, his aim was mainly to see that the people and leaders of the United States utilized all their knowledge, skills and efforts in making the country better. He would constantly challenge himself to achieve a better part of the goals and objectives he set. Similarly, he would push other state leaders to put all the effort they can to serve the people of the U.S. The citizens were also encouraged to participate in productive activities (Nye Jr, 2013). Kennedy also made effort to provide the resources that the people required to make better lives. He also focused on promoting

TASK 1: ETHICAL LEADERSHIP 3 justice for all U.S. citizens through words and actions by adjusting laws and policies that encouraged discrimination. Major Ethical Traits i. Just In demonstrating ethical leadership, a leader always has to portray fairness and justice. An ethical leader cannot have a favorite group of people whom they take sides, especially when depriving other groups of their rights (Nye Jr, 2013). A just leader treats all people in their team equally regardless of their status. Under the rule of an ethical leader, subordinates do not have to fear that their leader will be biased in case of a conflict. Kennedy through his presidency focused on promoting justice across the United States. He pushed for the implementation of policies that allowed all American citizens to feel equals of each other and that no single group was more valuable than the other. He fought for the right of all marginalized groups in the U.S (Nye Jr,
