Temple University Fox School of Business Leadership and Organizations HRM 1101 Fall 2014 WELCOME! I am thrilled to have you in my Leadership and Organizations class this semester! I promise you an exciting ride in which we will explore your goals, dreams and passions as they relate to business with a strong focus on leadership in a fun, upbeat, challenging, and exciting manner!! Schedule appointments with Professor Petrucci via email through Maria Pacitti, your TA (You must make an appointment as I am often booked with other student appointments if you just stop by, or I may be at a meeting if I am not expecting you). Best times are typically 8am-10:30am on M/W/F, but other times can be scheduled as well. Given the large size of this class the syllabus is very long, direct, detailed and specific. You are accountable for all information in the syllabus. REQUIRED COURSE MATERIALS: See Course Materials to Purchase tab on Blackboard for specific instructions on required materials and how to purchase them. REQUIRED TEXT: Management: A Focus on Leaders, by Annie McKee, New Jersey: Prentice Hall, 2010 or 2013. CLICKERS (Response Pads): Clickers are required for the class. There are times during the class, such as in-class quizzes and exercises when you must use the clickers. WALL STREET JOURNAL: We will use the Wall Street Journal throughout the class for quizzes, projects, exercises and class discussions. The link below offers the best rates. The rates do change from time to time but often the student rate is as little as $1.00 a week. The WSJ is required for the class. CLASS RULES: In order to ensure we have a great learning environment, the following are some rules for the class. I think you will find these rules will benefit everyone. I love teaching this course and know that if you apply yourself, it will have great meaning on your life and career. With 250 students I do not make exceptions to the rules. DEVICES: In order to show proper respect to the other students and the professor there will be zero use of cell phones, ipods, ipads or other handheld devices for “texting” etc.
