Shannon Samantha Shannon 02 October 2017 Professor Peter Reim English 101 The Maize The changing of summer to fall comes with many things. The leaves change colors, the air becomes crisp and cool, and most importantly fall festivities can begin. Corn mazes are as necessary during fall as shorts in the summer. Entering in the beginning brings the excitement of the chase to the mazes end. Approaching the start the large orange and black entrance sign looms over like a portal to another world. Tall stalks of corn line the course deep into the intertwining paths. Stepping into the maze the fresh smell of the plants meshed with the faint scent of the farm in the distance is ever present. The first few feet are filled with excitement and caution with each twist and turn bringing overwhelming thoughts of which path is correct and which is the real way out. Continuing through with a brisk walk feeling each step as it brings dirt crunching beneath your solid winter boots. The corn leaves stretch ahead into the path swaying and beckoning you to continue
