COURSE DESCRIPTION Introduces the contributions of the applied behavioral sciences to the study of work in organizations. Covers the fundamentals of individual and group behaviour, as well as selected topics in motivation, leadership, communication, conflict and organizational change. In essence this course will introduce you to the human element of organizations. B. COURSE OBJECTIVES Organizational behavior is the interdisciplinary field dedicated to understanding and managing people at work. This course seeks to accomplish three primary objectives: Introduce you to the basic principles and concepts of organizational behavior. o Provide you with a base of knowledge that will help you excel in courses on human resource management (e.g. human resource management ADM 2815 ; training and development ADM 4815 ; human resource management selection systems ADM 4857; compensation management ADM 4825; and performance management ADM 4828 ) and more advanced courses in business administration (e.g. motivation and work behaviour ADM 4526 ; leadership ADM 4525 ; and organizational design ADM 3573 ). o Prepare you for further undergraduate or graduate education in OB and HR. Introduce problems involved in managing people in organizations by examining issues relating to the interaction between human beings and the organizational context within which they work. Help you understanding your own organizational behavior, both as an employee and leader.
