Zones/Spheres of influence o Ex. China – European powers divided and claimed various regions Manifest Destiny o Idea behind the Monroe Doctrine saying the US was destined to conquer America without interference from other regions (Europe) o Reason why nobody tried claiming territories in America besides the US Global trade network affected the entire world, directly or indirectly o Created two separate economies between the developed and underdeveloped world o Most regions of the world began to specialize in only a few products Colonies were assumed to be self-generating and prices of luxury items were to remain stable and high o This proved to be false, the prices changed dramatically and people were less inclined to buy o If the price of these product tanks, the economy of the colony goes with it – dependent economies – resulted in huge debts and famine Why colonialism?

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
