Heather Fackelman HONP 112 W-5:30-8:00 Due: 9/24/08 “Internet Anonymity” The fact that our identities stay hidden while on the internet is important for various reasons. It is dangerous for people we do not know to have information, such as our names, addresses, credit card and social security numbers, and so forth. However, this anonymity completely eliminates the human quality that allows us to read others and fully understand what they mean. It also eliminates the responsibility of facing people and listening to them, because we have the option of shutting off our computers or internet. The article “Corporate Case in Ohio Raises Questions on Internet Anonymity” argues over the importance of keeping identities hidden. A woman under the alias “Jane Doe” posted anonymous messages on a Yahoo message board criticizing a fellow employee. Because she used her colleague’s name openly in her postings, he found these bulletins about himself, and wanted to uncover her identity and file a lawsuit against her.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
