Heather Fackelman HONP 112 W-5:30-8:00 Due: 10/08/08 “Who’s Reading Your Email?” “Email Sleuthing Made Easy,” by Alorie Gilbert, explained that new and innovative software that has become available in recent years has made it easier than ever to sleuth emails, for government officials, employers, and common people alike. “Software entrepreneurs” have designed programs that make “email sleuthing as easy as a Google search.” It discusses the company Clearwell, which offers a program that has an option “beyond arching” – Internet messaging. This program sorts emails, “weighs the background data,” and basically tells you anything you want to know about any email. These new technological advances make it virtually impossible to ensure that your mail is kept private. Unfortunately, as the book said, it is important to use some discretion while using the internet, anyway. If you have valuable or private information that you would rather remain private, it is better to communicate it to the intended person
