Music Reaction- “O Successores” 2 Introduction “O Successore” by Hildegard of Bingen-1098-1179 was the first woman composer from which many works, mono sacred songs, survived. O Successores- expressive example of Gregorian Chant. Sung by women-nuns from her convent. It is from the Medieval period. Composed of a single melodic line with a drone affect. The music is monophonic. Development The timbre of “O Successores” has a Drone and one or more long tones accompanying a melody consists of a few different string instruments and one melodic voice. Within the song you can hear a medieval style string instrument. The single female voice is melodic and monophonic. The pitch rises and falls. She puts emphasis on important words by singing faster and louder and slowing down for not as important words. The melody reminds me of an old-style church hymn.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
