Virginia Riggs Journal Entry #1 My mom has always taught me to read ingredients on the back of anything I try to buy at the grocery store because of things like high fructose corn syrup. Which has been proven to be bad for your body. I never realized how many products actually contain this ingredient. After the first class discussion we had you kept emphasizing about how much of a big deal corn is but you never really pay much attention to what you eat. We think it tastes good so we eat it. After reading the first four chapters of this book I was absolutely amazed at how much corn product is actually in our diet. I think it is crazy how something that is supposed to be good for you since it is a vegetable can be mutated and changed into so many different substances that it actually becomes bad for you. Not only did it start off as being a vegetable that you would use everything off of such as the kernels, the husk, and the cob, now over half of the plant is wasted by these huge corporation farmers. Most of the plant now goes to waste. I was also amused
