Unformatted text preview: Journal 4: “ Double Life of Veronique a work of art-film” Film - La Double Vie de Veronique ( The Double Life of Veronique, 1991, dir. Krzysztof Kieslowski) The film La Double Vie de Veronique was a very interesting art film. Its highly stylized lighting and color scheme made this film visually compelling. The scenes centered between a gold, green, and red color template, each color expressing emotion and psychological states. Another interesting motif in the film was its use of doubling through the movie. The film’s protagonist (or a single protagonist in multiple incarnations?) is always accompanied by some sort of reflective device, like mirrors, windows, and a recurring element in the film, a small transparent rubber ball which the protagonists look though. This may symbolic of their worlds being parallel and opposite to each other.
