° ° US for the first time took spot for total wine consumption o Not per capita o Gangbusters for 20 or 30 years o Every state has two or three different wineries o Wine sales surpassed sales of beer Unit volume people drink more beer o China will soon be #1 wine drinker You can buy wine that isn’t produced yet France Italy and spain o If there is a drought or too much rain Effects wine production All of the wine has to be produced somewhere o 21 million acres dedicated to wine o 8 or 9 billion gallons of wine produced every year o agricultural tourism doesn’t happen for other things just wine wine is a cultural activity o great defining value o it’s just fruit however it is fruit that is made into alcoholic beverage
