Course Strands Written communication In this class, you will compose writing across many different genres. We will work to understand the governing rhetorical rules of different types of writing and the grammar rules of Standard  Edited American English. All of the writing you will do in this class is available to consider for  this course strand. In addition to formal assignments, you should consider also your class notes,  your performance on grammar questions, any professional or critical writing that you do outside  of this class that reflects learning that has come from the class (e.g., an email to a professor), etc. Public speaking You will present your ideas and your work to the class both individually and in a group. This  course strand focuses specifically on public speaking (as opposed to small-group or  interpersonal). Consider all of the skills that make for good public speaking, such as poise, voice,
