9/26/16 Research Questions and Answers: Q1: Article I, Sec. 9 and Amendment 6 of the United States Constitution contain provisions that can be traced to the Habeas Corpus Act. Identify and summarize these provisions. A1: Both the Sixth Amendment and the Habeas Corpus gave rights to criminal defendants by law. In addition, they protected citizens from harming themselves against the justice system. In other words, these documents allowed rules to be placed to protect people, despite their situation with crime and punishment. This included a person can’t be imprisoned unless charged with punishment. Overall, these documents served for ethicalness, even if the person is sentenced to punishments. Q2: How many of the rights listed here can you find in the Bill Of Rights of the United States Constitution? What about the other parts of the Constitution? A2: Parts of the Habeas Corpus can be found in the First, Fifth and Sixth Amendment of the Bill of Rights. The First Amendment gives a person the right to have freedom of speech, press and religion to a necessary extent. The Fifth Amendment gives a person the right to have a trial in front of a grand jury and court to determine whether or not they will be punished or free. The
