English 001 Paper 3 Which Road Would I Have Taken? Perhaps one of literatures best poets, Robert Frost embodies everything a great poet should stand for. Frost lived solely for poetry and dedicated his life to writing. Poems written by Frost were stories from his own experiences, whether they applied directly or spiritually, he embodied a “creative spirit” at all times (Untermeyer 1). When one mentions Robert Frost, one of the first works that comes to mind is a poem known as “The Road Not Taken.” “The Road Not Taken,” is a poem which everyone could relate to, which contributes to why Frost is such a wonderful poet and it can truly shape ones attitude and help one to realize the reality of life. When I first read the poem it touched a part of me and shaped how I thought of life. He spoke with powerful words but more so, a powerful idea. He centered the poem on the line, “I took the road less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.” At first glance, I thought into it merely as it sounded, thinking that it was there to produce the idea of not being afraid to be different and not worrying about what others did. However as I thought deeper into the poem and read it over and over again, I began to build a new understanding. I developed multiple meanings which really promote the idea of personal independence. I believe the author is trying to introduce the idea that every decision that one
