Chemistry 237: Organic Chemistry Professor Forrest Michael CHB 404H [email protected] Website: Message Board: Homework: Description: This course is the most evil course ever developed an introduction to organic chemistry covering basic concepts in bonding, structure and reactivity of organic compounds. You will begin by learning how the structure of organic molecules determines their properties and reactions. These concepts will be applied to the basic reactions of several types of molecules. Text: Carey, Organic Chemistry, 6 th , 7 th or 8 th edition. Chapters 1-9 will be covered, approximately one chapter per week. Molecular model kits are strongly recommended. Course Time: MWF 3:30-4:20, Guggenheim 220 Office Hours: MF 4:30-5:20, CHB 439 and by appointment Quiz Sections: Quiz sections will be held on Tuesdays, except for the first week. This time is for you to ask specific questions of the TAs, so be prepared with questions. There will also be quizzes during several of the quiz sections.
