Analysis of topics in biotechnology in agricultural production and food processing, intellectual and physical property rights in a market based economy, human nutrition problems, the treatment of animals and the environment, worker rights in a global food and apparel marketplace, and American’s role in reducing world hunger and malnutrition. 4 hours lecture/discussion. Fulfills BE Area C4 or D4. Prerequisites: Completion of GE Area A and Sub-areas C2, C3, D2, and D3. Blackboard: The instructor will make all class information available through Blackboard. You are responsible for checking Blackboard regularly. Communicating with the Instructor: When emailing the instructor, please use complete sentences (do not email in texting format). The email should include your first/last name and course and section # (ie: AG 401.01) . The instructor will strive to return emails within 24 hours Monday through Friday. If an email is received after 4:00 pm on Friday or over the weekend, please expect to receive a reply the following Monday. Weekly Reading and Assignments: You are expected to come to each class meeting having already read the chapters & any articles posted on Bb to be discussed that week.
