1. What is Osteomalacia and rickets? What are the causes, symptoms, treatments? Osteomalacia and rickets are when soft bones/deformed growth plates are formed due to insufficient minerals in the body or osteoblast dysfunction.Symptoms include pain, lack of growth, bowed knees, large skulls/foreheads, and lumps where the ribs meet the sternum. Treatment depends on severity but often includes the addition of missing minerals back into the diet. 2. What leads to bone deterioration and what parts of the bones are usually affected? Bone deterioration can be caused by lack of proper diet, old age, or prolonged use of corticosteroids in some cases. Spongey bone is most commonly affected. 3. What are the possible causes and treatments of a herniated/slipped disk? Herniated/slipped disks are most commonly caused by old age, however, in rare cases they can be caused by a traumatic accident (a fall onto your back, hitting your back, etc.). Treatment, per usual, depends on the severity and pain level, and can range from simply seeing a chiropractior to having surgery.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
