Nombre: ____________________________________________ Fecha: ____________________________ Grammar: Regular Preterite The ________________ is a Spanish past tense that is used to talk about actions that were completed in the past: I went to the travel agency. I bought a ticket. You will need to know two key words to use the preterite: ayer: yesterday and anoche: last night To form the preterite of -ar verbs, you take the sten of the verb (the same stem you used to form the present tense) and add the following endings: comprar → compr - + endings yo nosotros/as vosotros/as él, ella, usted ellos, ellas, ustedes Notice the accents on the yo and él, ella, usted forms: compré, compró. A. Underline the preterite verb forms in the following conversations. ¡Ojo! Not all the verb forms are preterite forms. 1. Elena: ¿Hablaste con Enrique ayer? Ana: Sí, hablamos por teléfono anoche. Él trabajó ayer. Elena: ¿Ah, sí? ¿Dónde trabaja? Ana: Trabaja en un restaurante. Ayer lavó muchos platos y limpió las mesas. 2. Marcos: ¿Estudiaste para el examen? Tomás: Sí, estudié mucho, pero estoy nervioso. Marcos:Yo también. Pasé dos horas en la biblioteca. Tomás: Yo estudié en casa y usé la computadora.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
