Razaie, Sonia October 5, 2017 Doctor Beecher Laboratory Portfolio #3 Conductometric Titration and Gravimetric Determination of a Precipitate Introduction The purpose of this experiment was to determine the equivalence point of the reaction between sulfuric acid, H 2 SO 4 , and barium hydroxide, BA(OH) 2 through the process of titration and to find the molar concentration of barium hydroxide. This experiment began with diluting 10.0 mL of barium hydroxide with 50 mL of water. From there a magnetic stirrer was placed into the beaker containing the solution of barium hydroxide in order to continuously stir the solution throughout the process of titration. A Conductivity Probe was placed into the beaker with the assistance of a ring stand and was connected to the Vernier computer interface so the conductivity of the solution will be able to be measured throughout the reaction. From there, 25 mL of 0.100 M of sulfuric acid was placed into a 250 mL beaker and was then transferred to a 50 mL buret so it can be mixed into the barium hydroxide solution as the titrant. Before beginning titration, the initial conductivity value of the barium hydroxide should be recorded on the Vernier interface. The sulfuric acid will be added to the solution in increments of 1.0 mL and between each reading, the conductometric value of the solution should be recorded. Doing so will help get a
