What we will learn this week: • Kinetic energy is the energy contained in the motion of an object. • Work is defined as energy transferred to or from an object due to the action of a force. – Positive work is defined as a transfer of energy to the object; I.e., work done on the object. – Negative work is defined as a transfer of energy from the object; I.e., work done by the object. • Work is the scalar product of the force vector and the displacement vector. • The change in kinetic energy due to a force is equal to the work done by the force. • Power is the rate at which work is done.
