1Amanda Drapiewski March 11, 2007 Obituary 773-401-2440 drapiews@msu.edu East Lansing, MI. - Amanda M. Drapiewski, a Michigan State University journalism student, died in a car accident on Monday. She was 20 years old. When driving down I-69, a CATA bus driver hit the side end of her car, causing it to spin off a bridge. The car did 16 somersaults and landed in the Shiawassee River. Amanda was born January 22, 1987, on the southwest of Chicago. Her father was policeman and her mother was a crossing guard. She attended Saint Symphorosa for eight years where she played basketball, soccer and softball. While playing basketball for five years, she earned three awards and one championship. She was awarded Most Valuable Player, Best Free Throw Shooter, and Best Three Point Shooter. Her team was undefeated in 2005 where they won the girls championship. After graduating from Saint Symphorosa, Amanda went on to write for the ECHO newspaper at her high school, Mount Assisi Academy. She was an editor her junior and senior
