Acids and bases are often described as being “weak” or “strong”. For acids, Ka values are commonly used. The Ka value is an indication of acid strength. The larger the value of the Ka, the stronger the acid. This value is characteristic of the acid and can be used to help identify an unknown acid. Ka is a quantitative measure of the strength of an acid the ionization of a generic acid HA, can be represented by the following: HA(aq)+ H2O(L)↔ H3O+(aq)+ A-(aq)II. Results Analysis A.
