Wal-Mart Inc. 2 The journey of Wal-Mart took place in a small town in Rogers, Arkansas. In July 1962, a man name Sam Walton opened the very first store. Wal-Mart is an American global retail corporation that has stores worldwide. 2.3 Million Associates, $45-60 Billion 3-year projected sales growth, 16 websites in 11 countries, 11,530 stores worldwide and $10.4 billion dividends/share repurchases. This store has grown to become the biggest retailer in the U.S. and the world. It’s commitment to itself to driving down cost out the supply chain to deliver everyday low prices as promised in it marketing slogan to all customers. This large retailer has huge bargain-based department stores all over the world. The company is governed by the Walton family, which owns 48% of the stakes in Wal-Mart. It was publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange in 1972. Their headquarters are based in Bentonville, Arkansas. This retailor is well-known for their cost-effective products that sell excellent quality. Wal-Mart is running retail stores in different arrangements worldwide. Today, this entity is operating apparel stores, warehouse clubs, and retail stores, restaurants within its supercenters, supercenters, supermarkets and neighborhood markets. Wal-Mart has grown on an international level leading them to catch the attention of customers on the world-wide web. Since this retailer has grown so much over the internet, it has also attracted many competitors along the way. Wal-Mart offers a variety of products that its stores sell daily, which are suitable for everyday life. It’s target markets are everyday individuals who like to save money. These target individuals come from all types of backgrounds knowing that they will receive competitive prices and excellent customer service. The people who shop at this popular retail stores are ones who work hard for their money. The folks that are living from paycheck to paycheck are the ones who are benefiting the most from Wal-marts low and affordable every day prices.
