NIKE
Name and History
This is the history of Nike it was created in 1964. Two students of University of
Oregon track athletes, created Nike. Bill Bowerman and Phil Knight together created one
of the most dynamic and popular sporting good brands this world has ever seen. It began
as a little distribution company located in the back of Knight’s pick-up. Then in 1963,
Knight traveled to Japan to interview with a Japanese running shoe manufacturer, with
smart business tactics and smooth conversation Knight placed his first order for Tigers.
By the next year he sold over $8,000 and needed more. After hiring a full time salesman
and putting together the Nike name and trademark swoosh, Nike’s sales went from $10
million to $270 million by the late 1970’s. By the 1980’s, the fitness revolution began
with Nike leading the charge. Nike has grown from running shoes to equipment, apparel,
all-sport shoes, and has turned into a marketing guru. The Nike symbol is easily
recognized around the world and is worn by star athletes like Michael Jordan and Usain
Bolt. World headquarters is located near Beavertown, Oregon and is operated in more
than 160 countries around the world (“About Nike”, 2011).
Ownership and Stock Exchange
Nike’s ownership is through its stocks, it is public for whoever wants to buy in the
stocks. The top five holders of Nike are Vanguard Group INC., Blackrock INC., State
Street Corp, Wellington Management Group LLP, and FMR LLC. In total the amount of
holders for Nike are 1,412. The stock exchange for Nike is NKE, and right now it is at
$55.72 and 1.07%.
Countries It Operates

NIKE
Nike is now a worldwide company with three headquarters. The three
headquarters are in Beaverton Oregon, The Netherlands, and Yangpu District
Shanghai in China. Having so many stores around the world their products are sold in
every sports store, and everywhere you can find sports wear. Stores like Macy’s, Wal-
Mart, Targets, and so many other stores also carry Nike brand apparel. You can find them
in every chain brand store around the world.
The Four P’s
Products, there are so many types of products that Nike has to offer. To start their
main sells come from shoes and apparel. Nike shoes is what they think about when their
hear the name, they have shoes from running to football and soccer and much more. They
have gotten involved with so many sports that they have clothes and shoes for more of
the sports in the world.
