At the beginning of the diagnosis, they believed Mrs. Velez had appendicitis, after that they believed the patient had enteritis, later they thought she had pseudomembranous colitis. However, they concluded with diagnosing Mrs. Velez with Strongyloides stercoralis. 3.How did a diagnosis of asthma exacerbate Mrs. Velez’s disease? The diagnosis of asthma made it worse for Mrs. Velez since the treatment for asthma damps the immune response and can affect health. In addition, the treatment (Bactrim) gave her a high white blood cell count. 4.How did the symptoms displayed by Mrs. Velez relate to the final diagnosis? Most of Mrs. Velez’s symptoms such as fever, tender belly and diarrhea were the same symptoms displayed by S. stercoralis which helped determine what was wrong with the patient. 5.Describe some of the characteristics of the infectious agent causing Mrs. Velez’s disease?

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
