NAUXChange 7Discuss whether the manager at your current workplace also displays effective leadership. What do you see as the differences between the two skillsets?According to our textbook leadership is defined as having the ability to influence people in a way that aids in contribution to the organizations goals. Management is a person who supervisesand controls subordinates within an organization. My manager is someone who possesses both management and leadership skills. He is very encouraging yet makes sure everyone is doing what they need to do within the deadline that is expected. Discussion 7.2: Leadership Traits and PowerLeadership is the ability to influence people toward the attainment of goals. Leadership is reciprocal, occurring among people. It is dynamic and involves the use of power to get things done. Power represents the resources with which a leader effects changes in employee behavior.Suggest some personal traits that you believe would be useful to a business leader today. Are these traits more valuable in some situations than in others? How do you think “traits” differ from “strengths”? How do these traits work together with power? Some personal traits that I believe would be useful to a business leader today are: Intelligence, energy level, personality and interpersonal skills. I believe that valuable traits are situational. An example would be a business leader who works in a very high stress environment. This business leader would need the type of personality that would include high self confidence as well as the ability to effectively communicate with subordinates that would encourage them to reach their work goals. The knowledge that is gained when developing strengths is something that can be forgotten if not used after a period of time. The way traits work with power is that they set the stage for the type of leader or manager that person will be.
