1. Think about people in your own life who like to tell stories that meander and go off on tangents. How does injecting such stories with humor shape the stories and affect readers or listeners? Stories that have a bit of humor in them make it, in a sense, better for people in a way that makes the story more enjoyable to read. Humor is always good, especially to make a story a more unique experience that is, undoubtedly, an enjoyable read. Meandering off in a story isn’t always bad, humor is great. 2. Satire is writing that uses humor to call attention to the quirks, imperfections, or problems of a person or group, a place, or a society. Consider Twain’s depictions of the setting and characters in his story. What quirks or imperfections of the American West and the people who live there does Twain satirize? How does he do so? Use specific examples from the story in your response. From what I gather, Twain used satire to create a mannerism of some rather lazy characters that inhabit the story?
