Andrew D. Byers American History I 2010 S05 room 122 The Founding of “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints” In the beginning of this paper I must state that those that belong to this faith, the church was never “Founded” or “started” but it was restored. For the sake of time I will refer to the church and its members as the Mormon Church. The Mormon Church is a restored primitive church. The young Joseph Smith junior was visited by the Lord Jesus Christ and His father. It was during this meeting that Joseph Smith junior was told that all of the churches upon the earth were false/corrupt and that he needed to restore the lord’s gospel upon the earth. When speaking about this church’s “restoration” this is a very important thing to remember. Joseph was told to start readying himself to receive the brass plates that he would translate and later be known as “The Book of Mormon”. Those who were associated with the plates in the beginning were often the victim of major persecution. During this time joseph and his
