In search of a route to Asia and the Indies, Christopher Columbus accidentally embarked upon, the Americas ( new world).Columbus Discovery led to a period of colonization by the European nations, such as the British, Spanish,French, thus resulting in the exchange of plants, animals, culture, human populations, diseases and ideas, known as the Columbian Exchange. The Columbian exchange altered history greatly as both the new and the old world were affected. The most devastating consequence of the Columbian exchange was that of diseases, that took a toll on many lives. However through the exchange new crops and livestock were introduced. For example, old world brought with them crops such as sugarcane and bananas and adapted crops such as potatoes, beans and peppers from the new world. The Columbian exchange is significant to American history as through it Native Americans way of life were transformed.The
