1 Name Date Proffesor English 015 Section How Michael Moore influences the audience in “Roger and Me” One of the biggest fears of the average American these days is losing their job due to downsizing or relocationing. Although it’s a terrible thing to lose your job for something you cant control, there is no doubt it happens and will most likely continue to do so in the future. The closing of GM’s first ever plant in Flint, Michigan, in the late 80’s is what prompts Michael Moore, a 35 year old resident, to understand why GM would destroy the number one source of employment in Flint. Mr. Moore’s quest to talk to Roger B. Smith, the chairman of GM, inspires this excellent documentary. “Roger and Me” is a powerful documentary, because it not only informs the viewer of the serious offenses made against the residents of Flint, but also hooks the viewer by adding a sense of humor and by completely revealing the depressing effect on Flint. Moore’s main problem with the plant’s closing is that now most people do not
