The theme verse which says1“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Is seen within the second segment of the book of Acts. This segment which covers Acts 8:1 – 12:25 shows us thedevelopment of power. As the segment begins we see Philip demonstrating the tangible power of God. He preaches the word, he heals and casts out demons. Philip is even able to convert a magician named Simon to the faith. Next, we see the incredible power of God transform Saul who was terrorizing those inthe faith. He is over come by the power of God and transforms. In this segment we also see Peter demonstrating the power of God. He is able to heal a man who is paralyzed and raise a woman from the dead through the power of God. This converts and brings many to the faith. Next, we see Peter through the power of God brings Cornelius and his family into the faith. This marks entrance of the Gentiles to the Gospel. This segment ends with an imprisoned peter freed by an angel of God. Soon after Herod is struck by an angel of God and eaten by worms. Showing the incredible power of God to protect his own and resist those who persecute his children. The church begins to expand and be witnesses to the ends of the earth.
