Chapter 7 1) Guests and other Patrons a. Who Qualifies as a guest? i. For a person to qualify as a guest of an inn, their visit must be the primary purpose which would be rental of rooms for overnight accommodations. ii. People who go to hotels as a social meeting with people who are already termed guests, are then considered guests. b. Intent of Parties i. The innkeeper- guest relationship 1. Innkeeper and guest relationship is contractual because The parties exchange the exclusive use of a guest’s room for money. 2. A person becomes a guest the moment they enter a hotel with the intent of procuring overnight accommodations ii. Registration 1. Not essential for a relationship between innkeeper and guest to exist. 2. The proprietor must know of a person who intends on becoming a guest and the guests’ intentions must be known as well in order for a contractual relationship to exist. iii. Delivery of Property 1. Once a person has given their luggage to an employee of the hotel, contractual relationship is established. a.
