Dear White People gave a new perspective on the racism that occurred in an Ivy League University where four young college students saw the impact of racial discrimination within their school. One of the major arguments within the movie was whether or not racism still takes place today despite the fact that we are in the 21st century. A number of different people disagree with the existence of such prejudism due to the number of successful African Americans throughout the U.S. One person in particular that continuously came up within the film was the U.S. President at the time, Barack Obama. People believe that because the majority of U.S. citizens voted for the colored president that racism had been overcome. For instance, in the article Black Like Us, it says, “There was this moment in the country where you seemed like you were crying wolf if you complained about racism in any form because, like, 'Hello! You have a black president. Oprah's the richest woman ever, and there's Beyonce!” On the contrary to such beliefs,
