One of the United States of America’s greatest architects and visionaries was Thomas Jefferson; A gentleman, A Planter, Philosopher, Statesman, Father and Husband. Thomas Jefferson was born in the then colony of Virginia on his family’s Shadwell plantation in April of 1743. The interesting fact that until 1758 the British Empire utilized a different calendar which iswhy on his tombstone and biography it will state O.S after his date of Birth. The Gregorian calendar was adopted which shifted the date by eleven days forward. This is also why the United States of America observes his birthday on the 13thof April and not the 2ndof April.1Mr. Jefferson was the third born child to Jane Randolph Jefferson and Peter Jefferson; two older sisters, two younger sisters and a younger brother. Jane Randolph was born into a wealthy familyand his father was a self made man, descendent of immigrants from Wales, England. Thomas Jefferson spoke of and respected his father greatly for his triumphs that made him into that man he saw before him.2Peter Jefferson highly valued education for himself and his children. Thomas Jefferson was tutored in scholarly works instead of formal primary school since at this time, Virginia did not have public schools. The tutoring would continue till after the death of Peter Jefferson’s death 1757. Thomas Jefferson would soon outgrow his tutor and request to attend The College ofWilliam and Mary in the Capital of Virginia. Thomas Jefferson would attend The college of
