Charity Campbell Mrs. Wilson History 201 October 30, 2017 Essay Check Abraham Lincoln once said, "slavery is founded in the selfishness of man's nature - opposition to it, is his love of justice. These principles are an eternal antagonism; and when brought into collision so fiercely, as slavery extension brings them, shocks, and throes, and convulsions must ceaselessly follow." Slavery dates to the ninth century, AD. It’s defined as the ownership, buying, and selling human-beings. Slaves were forced to work with no pay. They lived under extremely harsh conditions; such as being whipped, separated from their families, women were sexually exploited, and slave owners gave them a limited amount of resources. Slavery is an ancient practice. It is mentioned in both the Bible, and the Koran. In Ephesians chapter six, verse eight,
