Attia, Heba AFR 121-01 April 5th, 2017 Dr. Teresa Booker Writing Assignment #2 Malcolm X , born Malcolm Little ,was known as a courageous advocate for the rights of Muslims, Blacks, and every person in between to defend against the oppression imposed on minorities by White America. As one of the most influential African-American activists since Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm was criticized often for his views on politics, religion, and overall justice. Although Malcolm advocated for equality amongst groups, of cultural awareness and acceptance, one of the most common myths spread about his views was that he was a racist. In truth however, Malcolm only "hated what whiteness stood for in this country" (Burrow,1996). He hated that the only way for a person to be right, for them to be given justice was to be White. Many of Malcolm X's views on justice also had to deal with religion. As a convert to Islam, a religion widely disapproved of till this day, he had firsthand experience as to the injustices inflicted amongst those practicing. He however, could not use these experiences in his pursuit for black liberation as "Islam was as irrelevant to Blacks as Whites"(Curtis,2002). He believed that
