WEIGHING THE EVIDENCE 2 I prefer documentaries, oral stories, and photographs over published works and books because they tend to hold my attention and I retain the information better. So, obviously, the criteria I used to rank the sources from most persuasive to least was that of videography and photography over print. I was not at all interested in reading any of the court documents or the letters to the senate or to President Roosevelt. Ways in which primary sources might be useful in research could be by quoting first- person accounts, researching historical content, analyzing and interpreting data. Specific examples of this would be watching a documentary such as the American Working Women and Social Change by Betty Medsger and hearing the first-hand account of women who worked outside of the home during the early 1970’s. Another would be the photograph titled Women
