Ch. 28 New Deal America 25/02/2008 15:01:00 FDR – begins 40 year period in which democrats would reign in Congress –  prominent and wealthy family stricken with polio, handicapped elected NY governor in 1928 – did a lot for NY – definitely a progressive – brain  trust inaugurated March 1933 – the only thing we have to fear is fear itself *the 100 days *the New Deal and fireside chat New Deal programs – alphabet soup Civilian Conservation Corps – CCC provided jobs for young unemployed men Federal Emergency Relief Administration – FERA Agriculture Adjustment Administration Tennessee Valley Authority National Industrial Recovery Act – NIRA – which gave rise to the National  Recovery Administration and the Public Works Administration Social Security – didn’t cover domestic workers, agricultural workers
