Annabel Hartmann Mr. Bell AP United States History 9/20/2017 The Constitutional Challenge The battle of Lexington and Concord and the battle of Bunker Hill; were two turning points during the Revolutionary War. From the first American versus British war for the colonists rights, to the fight involving the American Revolution and Britain for Boston. Without both of these battles the presence of the colonists would have been weaker and would have led to a lot of changes. On April 19 th 1775, the battle at Lexington occurred when the American militiamen where overpowered by British Redcoats. The British had initiated by saying that they should lower their weapons when a sudden shot was fired and lead to spooked British Redcoats to fire multiple shots without authorization from their general. This left multiple militiamen dead and wounded with one Redcoat dead. After this the Redcoats travelled to Concord in look of arms, however as they went to get back to Boston they were met by thousands of militiamen. The militiamen won the fight and the news spread about the
