Discussion 1 This patient presents with an acute complication of type II diabetes mellitus. Because  this patient presents with a hyperosmolar imbalance (a common result of  hypernatremia) we know that her body is extremely dehydrated and the blood serum in  the extracellular fluid is concentrated. We would confirm her electrolyte levels especially Sodium and Potassium.  In her condition, hyperglycemic indicates an excess of glucose (sugar) in the blood  caused by type II diabetes mellitus: the body’s inability to properly utilize insulin to  transport glucose into the cells and metabolize it. In this severe scenario where the  patient presents comatose, we anticipate that her blood glucose will be extremely  elevated.  This patient is in an electrolyte imbalance crisis that caused serious effects on cellular  membrane potential and will cause brain cells to shrink. We will also anticipate low to no

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
